Piezoelectric Buzzer Project

Individual Project, 80%

240schematic.jpg

What?

The purpose of this project was to use basic electrical engineering circuit design techniques to create a beeping two-tone buzzer for the purpose of a security alarm.

How?

Operational amplifiers are the main component used to achieve the beeping tone created by this circuit. The charging and discharging properties of capacitors were used in conjunction with filters to activate or deactivate the tone.

Several electronic design software was used in this project, including LT Spice to verify the circuit worked as intended and eagle was used to design the PCB files. Breadboards were also used for prototyping purposes.

Results

Once the PCB was recieved from the manufacturer, the passive and active components were soldered on and it was connected to two AA batteries for testing. Testing indicated that the circuit worked as intended with the cycle consisting of several rapid beeps followed by one long one, repeating every second.
